Lately, I’ve been spending a lot of time simplifying my life, and I can’t tell you how freeing it feels to have less “stuff.” Decluttering my space has created a sense of peace, and I love how my home feels with less clutter. Now, I’m actively shopping for a tiny house, and I couldn’t be more excited about this next step in my journey.
The things I love about a tiny house go far beyond its size. It feels like a real home—just smaller. It encourages me to hold on to only the things that truly feed my soul, and that alone brings a sense of clarity and intention to my life. Every item I choose to keep carries meaning, and that shift in mindset has been transformative.
One of the many benefits of a tiny home is its flexibility. In the future, I could convert it into an Airbnb or a vacation home, making it not just a cozy retreat but also a potential source of income. Having less allows me to focus my energy on things that matter—growing my connections with the world around me, deepening my purpose, and guiding others on their own holistic aging journey while also creating an income for myself.
I never spent much time thinking about what my encore years would look like, but now, I love the ability to create something meaningful. This stage of life isn’t about winding down—it’s about expanding, growing, and designing a lifestyle that brings joy, purpose, and financial freedom.
There is something truly special about stepping into this new phase with curiosity and excitement. I’m all about exploring, growing, and creating—and this journey of simplifying and embracing a tiny home is just another way to live fully and intentionally.
How to Start Creating Your Own Encore Life
If you’re thinking about designing a life that aligns with what truly matters to you, here are some steps to get started:
Start with What’s Important to You – Identify your core values. What brings you the most joy and fulfillment? What do you want more of in your life?
Reflect on What You Truly Love to Do – What activities make you lose track of time? What excites you and makes you feel alive?
Choose Your Ideal Location – Do you want to live near your grandkids, in the mountains, by the ocean, or in a vibrant city? Your location plays a key role in your happiness.
Envision Your Perfect Home – If it were just you, what would your dream home look like? Would you go tiny, opt for a beachside condo, or live in a farmhouse with land?
Determine What You Need to Do to Live This Life on Your Terms – What financial steps do you need to take? What career shifts or income streams could support this vision?
What does simplifying mean to you? Have you ever thought about downsizing or shifting your focus to what truly matters? If so, I’d love to hear your thoughts!
